Day 3, July 5, 2019:

3rd Grade Class: Very clever, Plant sketches, Responsive, Attentive

The kids have so much joy for speaking and showing their work. They are so proud to show me their various plant drawings of trees and mangoes and Lawrence drew a mountain with a sun set and various groups of flowers blooming. They are so motivated to think for themselves and apply their creative minds to the world, however they have not gathered the resources to do so.

I feel energized when my class (collab w teachers) is actively cooperating and willing to share their ideas with their peers, even if they may only understand a very basic level of knowledge.

4th Class: So engaged into the curriculum! They responded really well and are so responsive and wanting to connect via high fives and other such things :)

5th Class: Initially we struggled with the time tables of the classes and arranging that, but after that the kids were engaged with the activities and happy to play in a circle game where they shared the names of trees when they received the ball and the preceding activity where they shared a fact about plants and their properties.

The youth are learning about the inner and outer environments and their respective components. They are also thinking about what it means to practice well-being and meditation on a daily basis.

Monday July, 8

3rd Class:

After feeling low on energy, I feel back at full. However while teaching my students I am trying to be careful about my actions as they are so prone to copying me. I can't even chew gum, as they will follow me. They were responsive to Telugu, and less to english. When I ask if they enjoyed class they nod with a smile.

4th Class:

Fourth class is very poorly behaving. They are not fully understanding the lessons and seem to be extremely rowdy. I plan on implementing more breathing and guided meditations with them. I hope they listen well and absorb (or try to) understand the wellness curriculum.

5th class:

Extremely eager to expand their minds and learn/ grow in ways that improve their wellbeing. I would like to do a few workshops with the college girls so that they can lead mini-lessons on mindfulness and other such activities. Maybe the older classes would respond well to the wellness activities!

College Girls workshop!

July 9, 2019.

Train the trainers program, to initiate a new type of teaching style! Initiate the mindfulness curriculum and print out the wellness worksheets, along with starting to educate them about it!

3rd Class:

Goal: Learn about all plants and their parts.

The kids are incredibly responsive to the videos and the activities. It enhances the wellness curriculum and the whole concept of care. They are happy to know about the plants and how they are all different, just like people. Some of the girls are so responsive and the boys tend to be high energy goofballs

4th Class: Laptop, "EVS Super", Animals

A lesson super well learned. In order to control a class it is so important to remain calm and present, because the kids copy your emotes and your energetic level. They are much more in tune to individual feelings and people. It is also important to dissolve the gender-barriers by sitting them boy girl and stacking them so that they are very responsive to the videos and lessons!

My goal video:

tell your story

what they like... future aspirations...

What are your goals?

How will you impact the future?

July 10, 2019

So many customs in India. How can you balance all of them, while remain comfortably true to yourself.

So many children have the goals to be doctors, dancers, and aspire for greatness.

Of the millions and billions of members of society, only a few have the power to listen and deeply understand that having long hair is beautiful - "I am proud to be in your presence" - Madame Sravanthi

BODHI ana - big brother.

When I ask there goals and their dreams, the third class responds, "Dancer, Doctor, Judge, Singer, Politician, Police, Nurse", when I ask why (y)? they respond "zed" (z). Clever little kiddos. Lalitha, "My school is so good, I like the math subject, I like third class, My goal is to be a dancer, I like the EVS subject, I like my teacher, and I like you"

All the kids have a great capacity to complete the tasks that are given to them, however they sometimes struggle to be themselves

My goal is to be a teacher, police, doctor, to help all members of society. Pushpalatha

How can you break cultural boundaries to an extent that is a symbiosis of a various group of people and places. It is crucial that people are brave enough to respect culture and at the same time have the ability to respect the people within a various culture.

Fourth class is always acting like a bunch of hooligans. It is possible to control them when they are acting crazily and running around across the floor! However they tend to pivot and act well when they respond to videos. I plan on doing a germination and plant outdoor lab that will inspire the kids in unique ways.
